Make High Street parking pay and display

Kate Gearing commented about our story Efforts to improve traffic flow from Framfield Road into Uckfield.

She said on our Facebook page on January 23: “Stop cars parking all the way through High Street and make it pay and display. That way it’s easier to control and stops lazy people parking where they like.

“It’s then easier for delivery drivers to drop off their goods. Double yellows are a waste of time. I know I’ll get comments from this but everyone is entitled to their opinion.”

Margaret Grantham agreed with Kate: “Yes Kate I agree. The amount of times I have to sit and wait for people to manoeuvre into their parking spaces which only adds to the town’s congestion. I hope the new station car park will allow us shoppers to park more easily in Luxfords Car Park and allow us to support our local shops.”

What about the Bellbrook Estate?

David Hare asked, following our story New parking time limits proposed for Uckfield are revealed: “Is there no mention of the Bellbrook Estate anywhere? All that will happen for the people using the trains, as they do now, is that they will just park the length of the industrial estate. Most of the cars on the estate are not visiting local business, they are commuting to London.”

We need bollards opposite the railway station

Mat Parsons said, in a Facebook message, that bollards should be placed to prevent buses parking on new paving opposite Uckfield railway station.

Mat pointed out on January 19, that “another coach” from Hams Travel was parked on the new path opposite the train station and said: “This has to stop!”

Mat contacted Hams Travel and was told: “We are instructed to park there by the rail company and have been doing so for a considerable number of years.”

He told “There should be bollards up to stop it”.

Shame on dog owners who do not pick up after pets
