South Brockwells Farm is preparing its second delivery of sausages for staff at local hospitals and is inviting customers to donate to the cause.
The farm, in Bradfords Lane, Little Horsted, launched its Buy a Banger for the NHS scheme a few weeks ago and at the beginning of the month delivered 200 free-range pork sausages to staff at Uckfield Hospital.
Farmer Chrissy Wells said this scheme one follows a successful Buy a Bundle (of asparagus) for the NHS project last spring .
“The Buy a Bundle scheme was really well received by the hospital staff. We delivered over 350 bundles of asparagus to four local hospitals and a care home, so we thought we could repeat the scheme, but this time with our handmade sausages.
Chrissy said: “We are keen to support NHS frontline staff who have been working so hard for us all in these challenging times.
“My husband Arron makes our free-range pork sausages to his own special recipe and they are delicious. So we thought they would make a delicious, easy supper after a long shift.
“To contribute, customers can make a donation of whatever monetary value they wish. We will add 25% to the donations made, pack up the sausages and deliver them to our local hospitals”.
Chrissy’s sister Sarah, who is a partner at the farm added that South Brockwells also offers a 10% discount to all NHS staff shopping with them.
She said: “We have stocked the shop with lots of delicious, locally-sourced goodies, and hope to make the shopping experience more pleasant than at a busy larger shop.
“In addition to the NHS scheme we have lots of ideas to help ease your way through the last few weeks of lockdown.”
Those ideas include:
Kindness Parcels, of fresh essentials, for £18.
Food Parcels which can be prepared for your household, for any number of people, ready for collection or local delivery. They are filled with fresh, handmade and locally sourced produce, saving a trip to the supermarket, and supporting local producers;
Stay at Home Snack Box. These come from Shepherds Kitchen and are available to order via the farm shop? The boxes include fresh, handmade snacks and treats to ease you through your working or home-schooling day, or just because you fancy a treat.
The farm shop is open every Wednesday to Saturday from 10am–5pm.
