‘Wow certificates’ for Uckfield school learning assistant apprentices

‘Wow certificates’ were presented yesterday to three apprentices who have completed their teaching assistant training at Manor Primary School, Uckfield.

Thursday assemblies at the school are all about celebrating achievement and attention was drawn to the successes of Erin Wickson, Rebecca Miller, and Hannah Fry, sealed with the presentation of the special certificates.

School business manager Ruth Western said Manor was committed to training apprentices and this week their first business administration apprentice joined the team.

Of the three teaching assistant apprentices Erin and Rebecca had both attended Manor Primary School while Hannah came to the school as part of a course at Sussex Downs College before beginning her apprenticeship there.

All three said they had enjoyed learning while doing the job and it was great to have the support of the school as they worked towards their qualification.

There is no guarantee of a job for the apprentices at the school but they will be able to apply for any vacancies arising and will be well placed to apply for other jobs in the county.

Ruth said: “Part of our commitment is to help them with applications in the future.”
