The world’s press focussed on Uckfield yesterday. They wanted to know more about the sculpture which was attached, on Monday, to the tower of the Catholic church.
Parish priest Fr David Buckley took calls from the Telegraph, the Mail, BBC South Today, BBC Radio and even The Times of India. He said about 20 photographers came to take pictures of the statue of Jesus in contemporary clothing.
The Sussex Express and Courier were there on Monday to see the work, by Lewes sculptor Marcus Cornish, prepared to be hoisted up the tower. The Argus carried a feature on page 3 on Wednesday, the story was in the Leader on page 3 yesterday and on the front page of the Courier today.
