Works proposed on trees in Lime Tree Avenue, Uckfield

Thirty-four lime trees in Lime Tree Avenue, Uckfield, could have their crowns lifted two metres above the height of street lights.

The trees on the western side of Uckfield Community Technology College are the subject of a planning application before Wealden Council.

The applicant is Foxhills Tree Services of Ninfield who say the aim is to open up the street lights for reasons of health and safety. They say ownership of the trees is unknown.

Crown lifting is described  on the Arboricultural Association website as the “removal of the lowest branches”.

The planning application says that in the case of the 34 trees in Lime Tree Avenue that the lifting is of epicormic growth only.
