Work under way on John Lewis distribution hub outside Uckfield

Work is under way on a 50,000 sq ft John Lewis distribution hub at the Ashdown Business Park outside Uckfield.

A formal ground-breaking ceremony was held on Wednesday, staged by Evander Properties, the specialist developer, and John Lewis.

The hub which is being built on a 3.82 acre site should be completed in July 2016. It is expected to create around 60 new jobs and will service John Lewis department stores in Kingston and Bluewater, and John Lewis ‘at homes’ in Croydon, Chichester, Tunbridge Wells and Horsham.


Speaking about the project Evander director Neil Dickinson said: “This project is Evander’s third for the John Lewis Partnership and we are very proud to play a continuing part in the evolution of the country’s leading retailer.”

Doug Kay, from John Lewis said: “We are pleased to be working with Evander to develop this important new hub in Uckifield.

“Once complete, this development will allow us to support our customers in the East Sussex area with the wide range of delivery, installation and assembly services we have on offer.”
