New terrace takes shape at the Highlands Inn, Uckfield.

Work progresses well on new terrace at The Highlands, Uckfield

Paving slabs are about to be laid on a new terrace being built at The Highlands Inn, Uckfield.

The area, which can be seen between two walls in our pictures – adjacent to the car park and the breeze blocks – will be used for al fresco dining when complete.

It is expected the work will take another three weeks.

Finishing these steps enabling direct access to The Highlands is the next priority.

Ian Ridley, whose family owns the pub, said priority is now being given to completing the front steps to enable access directly into the pub once more, and completing ramps at the side and front of the pub for strollers and wheelchairs.

Today’s task will be to choose lighting for the steps and terrace. “Things should really start to look good in the next three weeks,” he said.

There will be ramps at the side and front of the pub for strollers and wheelchairs.
