Work begins on refurbishing Picture House Restaurant

Work has begun on refurbishing The Picture House Restaurant and by early September it will have a whole new look.

The bar is still open at the moment, with snacks available, but from Saturday that will close to give builders and decorators the space they need to press on with changes.

Tansy Markwick, who runs the business with husband Kevin, said she is looking forward to seeing both kitchen and restaurant updated.

An old walk-in fridge freezer being removed from the kitchen and the walls will be re-cladded, all with the aim of improving efficiency.

In the two restaurant areas new flooring will be laid, they will be redecorated and new furniture introduced. There will also be new lighting and air conditioning.

The bar was updated two years ago and so that will stay as it is.

It is hoped the restaurant will re-open in early September and at the same time a new Picture House website should be launched.

Tansy said everyone was very excited now that the work was under way and looking forward to re-opening with a whole new colour scheme – though the film theme will remain.
