Wetherspoons rules out former Uckfield Post Office site

Pub giant Wetherspoon’s has ruled out taking over the former site of Uckfield Post Office in the High Street.

The building became vacant last week after the post office moved into WH Smith and there have been rumours for some months that Wetherspoon’s could take over.

But they were quashed yesterday, February 3, when spoke to the company.

“It is not a site the company is looking at,” a spokeswoman said.

She added that Uckfield was a town the company “is considering”.

J.D. Wetherspoon has recently bought the closed Crowborough Cross pub.

Its portfolio in the Uckfield area includes the George at Hailsham, two pubs in Eastbourne, the Ounce and Ivy Bush at East Grinstead and the Opera House at Tunbridge Wells.
