South East Water is planning to install 80 metres of new water main in London Road, Uckfield.
The work between between Snatts Road at Ringles Cross and Uplands Drive is needed to upgrade an old section of 300mm (12-inch) diameter pipeline that passes treated water between the company’s service reservoirs in Uckfield and Nutley.
The work is due to take place between July 27 and September 2 using temporary traffic lights.
Chris Love, Delivery Manager at South East Water, said: “To ensure that disruption to motorists is as minimal as possible we have planned to carry out this work during the school summer holidays when traffic flows are traditionally lighter.
Water company’s £424 million investment programme
“I would like to reassure residents and motorists that our teams will work as hard as they can to complete the work as quickly and as safely as possible, and thank them in advance for their patience when the work gets under way.”
This work forms part of South East Water’s £424 million investment programme taking place between 2015 and 2020.
*A service reservoir is a sealed, underground tank which holds highly treated water for a short period before it is pumped to customers’ taps.
