Uckfield Lions Club guests enjoy a cream tea to mark the charity's 50 years serving the community.

Volunteers and carers help Uckfield Lions celebrate 50th anniversary

There was a treat for volunteers and carers of Uckfield at the weekend when Uckfield Lions invited them to a celebratory cream tea.

The Lions invited more than 50 guests to help them mark 50 years of the charity serving the community of Uckfield and surrounding areas.

The event was held at Ridgewood Village Hall and volunteer groups included Macmillan Cancer Support, Uckfield Hospital League of Friends, Uckfield Performance Ensemble, Phab, and First Responders.

Carers included representatives from the Bevan Trust and Care for the Carers group.

Uckfield Mayor, Cllr Spike Mayhew, and Deputy Mayor, Cllr Jackie Love were welcomed by Lion Graham Baldwin who went on to thank volunteers and carers for all their hard work in providing help in the community to those who needed it most, young and old alike.

In response Cllr Mayhew echoed Graham’s words and said all the groups, and Uckfield Lions, made Uckfield a good town to live in.
