Uckfield triathlete Jamie Bedwell came third in national age group championships at the weekend.

The event took place at Leeds Castle and Jamie said the castle grounds and surrounding area provided the perfect triathlon course with a moat swim around the castle and transition within the grounds.

He said: “Heading out onto the bike I recorded the second overall fastest bike time averaging over 40kmph and came into T2 strongly.

“The scenic run was around the surounding fields of the castle with many tough climbs and descents to negoetiate with.

“I am currently in a heavy training block working towards the British National Elite Championships in Liverpool on August 14 so it was great to get a result yesterday. Thank you all for your support, it means a great deal to me.”

Jamie lives with his parents Ian and Karen and younger brother Henri in Ridgewood. His brother Tom has just qualified as a doctor.
