UKPN roadworks to resume in Uckfield on Monday

Bell Lane partly open again after being closed because of a ‘cable strike’ last week. Work is expected to resume next week.

UK Power Networks has apologised for disruption caused by its roadworks in Uckfield while a new connection is installed to the electricity network.

The company says it closed Bell Lane for safety reasons on Sunday, January 24, to investigate damage to an electricity cable.

The road was partly reopened again on Friday (January 29).

UKPN added: ‘We are aiming to resume work on Monday (February 8) and will progress the works as quickly and as safely as possible.

“The work involves digging trenches to install pipes (ducts) for new electricity cables in Bell Lane, High Street, New Town and Lewes Road.

“In the second stage of the project we will return to open excavations at intervals along the 2km route to pull through and connect the cables.

“We are writing to residents as we progress along the route to keep them updated and we aim to complete our works in the summer.”
