The air ambulance which attended UCTC when student Josh Efford was taken ill

UCTC student Josh Efford ‘making good progress’

Student Josh Efford who suffered a cardiac arrest at Uckfield Community Technology College (UCTC) is making “very good progress”.

The college said he had been moved to a children’s ward and was now walking again.

College principal, Hugh Hennebry, thanked everyone for their warm wishes to the Efford family.

He said: “The response from the whole community has been hugely supportive of Josh’s parents.”

Earlier, Mr Hennebry had praised students for their “exemplary behaviour” when Josh was taken seriously ill.

In our original reports Josh’s mother, Kathryn, said her son was still alive thanks to the “wonderful staff at UCTC”.

Josh was taken to the Royal Sussex Hospital, Brighton, where he was placed in an induced coma.
