Eleven students from The Rennie Dance Academy have successfully auditioned to perform with the Southern Youth Ballet this season and Chloe Hanson, from Uckfield, has been selected for the lead role.
The company is performing the Nutcracker on Sunday, December 1, at 5pm at the Congress Theatre in Eastbourne accompanied by a full professional orchestra.
The students were chosen from competitive auditions in the summer and have been rehearsing since September alongside professional dancers.
The lead role of Clara is being danced by 14-year-old Chloe Hanson, from Uckfield, who attends St Bedes School.
Chloe’s sister Amelie Hanson, 12, and Erin Munn, 17, from Isfield, are also dancing leading roles in Snowflakes and Waltz of the Flowers.
The junior children are dancing as party children and mice and are:
Cara Mclean and Amelie Oliver, nine, from Cuckfield, Poppy Jaques, ten, from High Hurstwood, Elena Neeter, 11 from Framfield, Maria Tanner, Evie Ashdown and Jemima Gribbin, aged 11 from Newick, and Annabelle Groom, ten, from Haywards Heath.
Rennie Dance Academy principal Kirsten Rennie-Carter said: “We are very proud of all our students and are looking forward to watching the performance.”
