The temporary “leaf fall” timetable on the Uckfield rail line comes to an end on Friday.
It was introduced at the beginning of October in an attempt to get trains to London on time and not be late when joining the main line at south Croydon.
Early morning services from Uckfield and Buxted departed a few minutes earlier than normal. For example, the 07.34 service has been leaving at 07.31.
Mulch from leaves can build up on the rail lines, making it more difficult for trains to gain adhesion when moving off from a standstill and can lead to trains sliding when under braking.
From next week, the Uckfield trains return to their usual times of departure.
