Uckfield to Lewes rail link: new study

Restoring the rail link between Uckfield and Lewes is now under active consideration by the Government.

It is one of a number of schemes competing for investment from the Restoring Your Railway Ideas Fund.

If the bid is successful, the proposal will get up to £50,000 to progress the plans to restore the services.

Bringing back the link between Eridge and Tunbridge Wells (now run by the heritage operators,Spa Valley Railway) is also on the list.

Lewes MP Maria Caulfield pushes rail line reinstatement bid

The link between Uckfield and Lewes was severed more than 50 years ago.

Since then there have been a number of reinstatement plans which have come to nothing.
