Uckfield teenager Megan Baker has such a huge collection of lip balms that she has applied for a place in the Guinness World Records book.
Megan has gathered 1061 lip balms – that’s 500 more than the previous record verified on November 29, 2015, and held by Jace Hoffman of Georgia in the USA.
All Megan’s are different and duplicates are not counted. If these were included it is estimated that the collection would go up to 1170.
The Year 9 student at Uckfield Community Technology College started her collection 21 months ago with the Cherry Chapstick and the Palmers Cocoa Butter lip balm and she plans to continue growing it.
She displayed her hoard in the Reading Room at the college where Phoebe Trotter, representing Superdrug in Uckfield, witnessed the record attempt.
Staff and fellow students who were invited to inspect the collection were amazed by the size of it and also the huge range of shapes, sizes and flavours in it.
Rebecca Turner, director of Year 9, at the college said: “When I asked Megan when she would stop collecting the balms, the shock was clear, Megan intends for this collection to continue growing for a very long time.”
The lip balms include some from Egypt, Mauritius and New York and she tries to use them all on a regular basis. Her top three are currently Revo, Baby Lips and Chapstick, with the Revo Melon Beauty 360 topping her list.
So what’s next for Megan’s collection? Top of her list is to grow her Revos section as well as the American and Limited Edition Baby Lips.
