Uckfield Speedwatch equipment on the way

Purchase of a speedwatch radar and tablet computer for community groups in Uckfield is on hold while Sussex Police upgrades equipment.

The town council has agreed to spend £800 on the project so that community groups can work with the police to achieve reductions in speed on the town’s roads.

Sussex Police has told the council that it is improving its equipment and as a result, the council will buy its kit once the upgrade is complete so that it is fully compatible with the police.

The work is scheduled to finish by the summer.

Councillors Chris and Claire Dowling have donated £200 from their councillors’ allowance to the project, bringing the cost to the town council down to £600.

Earlier this year, we reported that a community speed watch group had been established in Ridgewood. See report here
