It’s all happening in Uckfield shops at the moment with a flood of new stock arriving for autumn and winter. See below what will be available during October.
The Dressing Room to open at Josefina
Josefina owner Louise Beard is launching a new venture at her lifestyle shop and getting ready to open The Dressing Room on Saturday, October 12.
Louise aims to sell timeless, good quality clothing, at reasonable prices, all in the style of Josefina and reflecting the shop’s favourite pallet of colours.
She will begin by concentrating on lounge-wear and accessories, scarves, jewellery, and bags.
Her aim is for the new business to evolve as she listens to what customers have to say.
Louise said: “This is something completely new to me but it is fun and I am really enjoying it. I want to be the go-to shop for a nice top or dress for a night out.
“I want people to be as happy wearing the clothes in two to three years time as now, but we will have on-trend seasonal stock too.”
Gant and Barbour now in stock at Cole’s Menswear
New season Gant and Barbour brands are now in stock at Cole’s Menswear.
Most of the autumn and winter clothing has now arrived at the Uckfield High Street shop but different items are still arriving daily.

Something for Everyone is embracing Halloween with a cave of creepy goodies gathered together ready for the spooky season.

Make your own Halloween decorations at Kilnwood Studio, at 105 High Street, Uckfield, where you can paint your own pottery pumpkin, lantern or skull. Examples are in the picture below.

The Aster is the plant of the month at Staverton Nursery bringing a welcome splash of colour to darker days.
There are more plants too which will cheer you up through autumn and winter months, including pansies and cyclamen and seaonal hanging baskets.

Christmas cards and wrapping paper at Chestnut Tree
The first mention of Christmas in this Uckfield News feature but many of our shops are quietly preparing for the festive season
It is Chestnut Tree Children’s Hospice charity shop that is quick off the mark with Christmas cards and wrapping paper already available.
Winter woolies are on display too and you are welcome to call in and spot your own bargain.
New cotton and linen fabrics at Sew n Sew
New 100% cotton fabric from Guterman is now available at Sew n Sew in the Bell Walk precinct, Uckfield.
And more linen fabric has arrived too, a variety in tartan, with more featuring hedgehogs and cats.
W E Clark & Son add to pre-owned jewellery collection
W E Clark & Son jewellers in Uckfield High Street have added to their collection of pre-owned jewellery. Look out, for example, for a certified Cartier necklace taking pride of place in the display.
Also you will find a display of items available at special prices. They include pieces from the jeweller’s own Clark Collection, and pre-owned too.

When you need to replace rugby, football and hockey kit Final Score sports shop in Uckfield High Street will be able to help you.
For example, there are junior and adult football boots available. The junior boots with Velcro fastenings are proving a popular choice.
PipeDreams gets set for autumn and winter
Cosy fleeces, woolies, and hats are now going on display at PipeDreams as the shop prepares to switch from summer to winter.
The transformation to a ski shop should be complete by the end of October but it is worth remembering that summer stock is stored behind the scenes and is available throughout the year if you are planning a holiday in the sun.
Flip Flops, board sorts, bikinis, beach shoes and wetsuits will be out of view but just ask for what you need and it can be found for you.

Sophie Allport designs feature on bedding and accessories newly arrived at Carvills.
One set of bedding is inspired by flocks of sheep grazing in the fields surrounding Sophie’s home in Lincolnshire. The super-soft brushed cotton bedding aims to send you straight into your dreams in style.
Look out for peacock bedding too. Sophie’s elaborate illustrations aim to express the majesty of the peacock as they appear on a background of clean white 200TC cotton … the perfect base for the iridescent colouring on each bird ranging from indigo into shades of emerald, turquoise and aqua blues.

More plumbing accessories at Green DIY
Green DIY has reorganised its plumbing products into a more customer-friendly section which makes it easier for DIY plumbers to find the products they need.
Standard fittings from Oracstar are available for general domestic DIY including for taps, and for connecting washing machines and tumble driers.
There are plenty of spring bulbs and also gardening tools for grabbing leaves and pruning are in stock too.
Coming soon is a section with special offers on hand tools and power tools.
Dynamite baits at Hooked on Green
Dynamite baits are now available at Hooked on Green.
Robin Eden and Joe Grimes, both keen fishermen who look after Hooked on Green say they have used the bait themselves and it has a good track record.
Joe said: “We deliberately pick the baits we are happy to use and expand ranges from there.”
To start with they have Robin Red carp pellets and catfish baits.
Also new in st Hooked on Green are Korda spinner hook sections, and Korda Compac air dry bags.
Weekly meat boxes: £20 from Nose2Tail at Piltdown
Meat boxes are available weekly from Nose2Tail butchers at Piltdown for £20.

New on the menu at Hartfields
There are new burgers, a salad, and mains on the lunch menu at Hartfields.
The new burgers are American Cheese with 100% chuck steak, mustard, dill pickles, cos, and onion rings and Cajun Chicken Breast with smashed avocado, sour cream cos and tomato.
The new salad is Panko Breaded Goats Cheese and Roast Pepper Salad with rocket, cherry tomatoes, red onion, and balsamic glaze.
New mains include Roast Veg and Feta Warm Flatbread with muumuus, sun-dried tomatoes, rocket, and herb oil; Smoked Haddock Kedgeree with curried rice, spinach, leeks, and poached egg; and Chicken Breast and Mozzarella Wrapped in Parma Ham, with cherry tomato and pesto linguine.
There’s a new guest coffee on the menu. It is single origin Brazil ‘Recanto’ with flavours of chocolate, nuts and classic coffee. It is available as a batch brew.
