Only essential shops are allowed to open while the current Tier 4 restrictions apply but other Uckfield traders are offering click and collect and delivery services so they can continue to help locals.
This feature, which will be updated over the next couple of days as we gather more information, shares news from some of the businesses.
Veganuary at Best Health Food Shop
Best Health Food Shop, at the bottom of town near the railway station, remains open seven days a week as it was throughout last year’s lockdown and afterwards.
Currently it is taking part in Veganuary and supporting people who want to go Vegan, avoiding meat and animal products, and eating more plants during January.
Best Health Food Shop has meat substitutes such as Vegan cheese, as well as cakes, biscuits and snacks – and fruit and veg too. See examples below.
It is also worth exploring Best Health Food Shop’s Vegan care products too, such as beauty washes.
And look out for organic, vegetarian, gluten free, and plastic free products, along with supplements, toiletries and household items.
Take along your own bottles and containers to reuse and refill them with household products – laundry, washing up liquid, fabric conditioner and cleaners, as well as natural toiletries – and with loose food items such as nuts, seeds, oats, muesli, pasta and lentils.
Looking ahead to Spring at Something for Everyone
Gardening and Spring will be the dominant theme at Something for Everyone which is allowed to open as usual.
There are seeds, bulbs, and plant pots among items to help you prepare in advance for the coming gardening season.
And there will be new DIY items in store too while a sale of Christmas items will continue with the aim of clearing out all stock ready to start anew for Christmas 2021.
Winner of a raffle held in the run up to Christmas at Something for Everyone was Mrs Gibbons who can be seen below accepting her prize.
The raffle raised £485 for Oscar’s Wish Foundation and it was founder Gemma Kybert who drew the winning ticket. Gemma said she was grateful to Something for Everyone for the fantastic hamper prize and to everyone who took part.

Carvills fit blinds for home offices
Carvills have seen a huge increase in the demand for blinds and home automation throughout 2020.
This is partly driven by more people working from home with a regular query being: ‘How can I turn my spare room into my everyday working office/space?’
When we were outside the sunny summer was a delight but for home workers the sun can create issues. Two concerns Carvills found customers were frequently experiencing whilst working from home were, ‘office space was far too hot’ and ‘screen visibility was seriously being hampered by strong sunlight’.
Conversely now with the winter cold drawing in they have been asked how to dress office windows with a treatment that is both aesthetically pleasing and also as thermally efficient as possible to minimise heat loss and reduce energy use.
These concerns and many more are easily manageable and Carvills experienced Interiors Team can run through the various options available for your individual needs.
So, whether you’re looking for a home office window treatment that adds privacy, practicality or personality to your room, Carvills can help you find inspiration with their pick of the best blinds, curtains and home automation possibilities.
Please visit www.carvills.co.uk, or give them a call to have a chat and run through the various options available.
See examples of options in photographs below.
