Uckfield share of council tax to rise by 2.55 per cent

Uckfield Town Council’s share of the council tax is to increase by 2.55 per cent in the next financial year, which begins in April.

This represents an increase of £3.83 for the average band D council taxpayer.

The annual amount would go up from £149.74 to £153.57.

The amount was agreed last night (January 9) at a full meeting of the town council.

This is only one part of the total council tax people will pay from April.

East Sussex County Council

The largest part of the bill is from East Sussex County Council with smaller amounts from Sussex Police, East Sussex Fire and Rescue and Wealden District Council.

Wealden has said it is aiming to restrict its increase to £5.

Sussex Police and Crime Commissioner has consulted on an increase of £5 per household.

Bigger rises can be expected from East Sussex County Council which has to fund social care. The county decision is expected early next month.
