Uckfield roadworks move up in New Town

Long-running roadworks in Uckfield town centre have edged across the Framfield Road crossroads.

Roadworks this morning at the Framfield Road junction in Uckfield, showing how tight the turn is to the Ridings Estate from the south

It means the railway station bus stops have re-opened but this has brought about the closure of the Framfield Road stops on the road heading towards the Highlands roundabout.

The entrance to the Ridings Estate remains partially blocked.

Uckfield News has previously reported that new underground 11kv high voltage electricity cables are being taken from the sub-station in Bell Lane to the 1,000 homes development at the former Ridgewood Farm.

The route is going via the High Street, through New Town, then to the Highlands roundabout and Lewes Road to Ridgewood Place.

When notices first appeared warning of the works, the completion date was mid-May.

We reported last month that they are now expected to go on until the end of July.
