Uckfield road safety schemes fall short of ‘benchmark’ targets

County council assessments of the sites show they score well below a “benchmark” of 70, which is used to decide whether a scheme is further considered.

Hopes for a crossing in Browns Lane, near the shops, scored 42 and traffic calming for Harcourt Road was 50 short of the target.

Both schemes will be kept on a list for future consideration.
