Uckfield Picture House emerges from scaffolding

The scaffolding came down yesterday from around The Picture House, Uckfield, marking the end of the first stage of works to refurbish the premises.

The outside has been redecorated and there are new roof tiles on the turret and a new flag pole.

Screens One and Three have new seats with cup holders, new carpet, new air conditioning and better sound.

Now there will be a break over Christmas and the New Year before work begins, probably in the spring, to refurbish Screen Two.

Then attention will turn to the foyer area though what happens there is being reviewed since cinema owner Kevin Markwick has taken over Luna restaurant, just across the road.

The aim is to integrate the two businesses closely with people being able to buy their cinema tickets at Luna – which is to be renamed – have a meal and walk over to watch a film without the need to stop at the foyer.
