Uckfield Mayor joins housebound club members for Christmas lunch

Members of the Uckfield Housebound and Friendship Club enjoyed a Christmas lunch yesterday.

Thirty-seven members, helpers and guests, including Uckfield Mayor Cllr Louise Eastwood, gathered at Barnsgate Manor where entertainment was provided by the Elderly Brothers.

The diners sang along to Christmas songs and there was a raffle with the main prize of a hamper donated by Uckfield Co-op Funeral Care.

Twice monthly meetings

The housebound club meets twice a month for lunch and tea and says it is grateful to the organisations that help with the venues and transport at reduced rates. “The club would not be able to operate without this fantastic support and the support of many other local organisations.

“The club wishes to thank all the organisations and individuals for their support and wish them all a very happy Christmas.”

A gift arranged by members was presented by David Cole, chairman elect, to Graham Russell who is standing down in January as chairman.
