The event is coordinated by East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service with Wealden as a key project partner.

Schools are invited to take part and the emphasis is on learning by experiencing risk even if children make mistakes along the way.

Scenarios will include:

  • Sussex Police – road safety and personal safety
  • South East Coast Ambulance Scenario – dealing with a casualty
  • East Sussex Fire and Rescue – dealing with a fire and making a 999 call
  • Electrical Safety – UK Power Networks and East Sussex Fire and Rescue
  • Southern Railway – safety near the railway
  • Freedom Leisure – water safety
  • NHS School Nurses – alcohol safety
  • Wealden District Council – safety on the farm and in the countryside

The first week will be held in the grounds of Bowles Outdoor Centre, near Crowborough, between June 5 and 9 and the second week will return to Herstmonceux Castle between June 26 and June 30.

Uckfield Lions are sponsoring the main prize for the winning school.
