Uckfield Lions raise more than £7,000 over Christmas period

Uckfield Lions raised more than £7,000 for good causes over the Christmas period through Santa’s Sleigh appearances and a draw at Waitrose supermarket.

More than £5,000 – a record collection – was donated by the people of Uckfield and surrounding villages as the sleigh travelled around the area.

The money will go into Uckfield Lions’ general funds for use for good causes during the year.

Rocking Horse Appeal

A cheque for £2,500 is to be presented to The Rocking Horse Appeal Children’s Charity, based at The Royal Alexander Children’s Hospital, Brighton, thanks to people taking part in a draw at Waitrose, plus a small top up from Lions’ funds.

Waitrose vouchers to the value of £350 have been presented to the winners who were Caroline Elphick, from Buxted, £200; Mr Watson, Uckfield, £100, and Samantha Hills, Uckfield, £50.

Uckfield Lions said they were grateful to Waitrose for their support in donating the vouchers and allowing the Lions to sell raffle tickets within the store.
