Uckfield Lions have a new president

Uckfield Lions have a new president. Keith Mates took over from Frank Phillips at a changeover lunch yesterday.

Frank thanked members for their support over the past year and said more than £24,500 was raised, and donated, to charities and good causes.

Lions fund-raising events include an Easter Egg raffle, Big Fun Day in June, a 10k run – which this year is on July 9 – and monthly quiz nights at the Ringles Cross pub.

He said this couldn’t have happened without the “continued, amazing, support” of people of Uckfield and surrounding villages and the Lions would like to thank all who had supported their fund-raising events.

Frank formally handed over the chain of office to new president Keith who presented him with a scrap book recording events of the year.

Keith said he was looking forward to a good year where the emphasis was on service activities.

He invited members to make suggestions about how they would like the club to best serve the community and propose good causes to support.
