An Uckfield Line train at London Bridge

Uckfield Line to get further improvements

Network Rail is taking the opportunity of lengthy closures on the Uckfield Line for platform works to carry out other improvements.

All stations along the line to Hurst Green are having platforms lengthened to take ten-car trains.

At the moment there is a period of off-peak closures on the whole line, with another next spring.

In January and February, the line between Uckfield and Crowborough will be closed.

As we have previously reported, works in Crowborough Tunnel will take place.

Other work now planned by the Network Rail include straightening a piece of track north of Edenbridge Town, which regular passengers know often causes a jolt; and work at Eridge.

That will include moving the signals, replacing the footbridge and demolishing the old signal box.

*The current off-peak closures on the whole of the Uckfield Line continue until November 27.

*The line will be closed between Uckfield and Crowborough from January 4 to February 20.

*There will off-peak closures on the whole of the line from February 29 to March 24.

During these periods there will also be weekend closures and some overnight closures.
