Uckfield hosts final event of Sussex Bonfire season

The final chapter of Sussex Bonfire 2018 played out yesterday (December 16) afternoon in Uckfield.

As is traditional, the town’s bonfire and carnival society bookends the season.

It all gets under way when Uckfield hosts the first event of the season on the first Saturday of September.

The final act is just before Christmas with a procession through the town and a carol service at Holy Cross Church.

Heathfield Silver Band led the procession

Groups from across the county formed up on Sunday in Harcourt Road and walked to the church, via Framfield Road, the High Street and Church Street, led by Heathfield Silver Band.

Members of the Uckfield society were joined by town mayor, Cllr Spike Mayhew.

Uckfield Performance Ensemble also took part, along with representatives from other Sussex Bonfire groups.
