Uckfield High Street parking – new police notices

Uckfield Police have attached notices to parking signs along the High Street warning drivers of the penalties they face if they over-stay the time limit.

Parking on the roadside near the shops in the High Street is time limited, where permitted, and the police in recent months have  been enforcing rules.

The notices show drivers who fail to comply with the regulations face a fixed penalty notice of £30 or they may face a magistrates’ court case where the maximum fine is up to £1,000.

In Uckfield, the police are responsible for enforcing on-street parking regulations. Wealden District Council enforces the rules on its own car parks.

One of Sussex Police’s priorities for the central part of Uckfield is to  “continue rigorously ticketing those overstaying in the one and two-hour bas and those parking on double yellow lines”.
