Project manager Sharon Burt said the foodbank would like to thank the community for the generous support.

She added: “We continue to be amazed and grateful for the community’s generous support. This latest donation will provide 2,832 meals.”

Sharon said continuing rises in food and fuel prices while salaries remain static many households find themselves in the position of having to choose between paying the bills or buying food.

An unexpected bill, sickness, problems with receiving benefits, sudden loss of employment, break down in a family unit were all situations that could bring added stress to a family’s finances.

The foodbank provides households with three days worth of nutritionally balanced food.

To access the service visit the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) and ask for a food voucher. In Uckfield the CAB is at The Hub (the hut near the Civic Centre, Luxford car park), Civic Approach. Its telephone number is 01825 764940.
