Uckfield flag at half-mast for Captain Sir Tom Moore

Captain Sir Tom Moore is being remembered today (February 3) in Uckfield.

The inspirational fund-raiser, who died yesterday aged 100, sprang to prominence last year with his sponsored walk which raised £33m for NHS Charities Together.

He had orginally set out to raise £1,000.

His efforts led to him receiving a knighthood from The Queen at Windsor Castle.

Flags are flying at half-mast today on Government buildings and Uckfield Town Council has lowered the Union Flag outside the civic centre to show respects to the Army veteran who won the nation’s hearts.
