Firefighters in Uckfield have been serving the town for 150 years and yesterday (June 24) the current crews put on a party at the fire station to celebrate.
Many families arrived with eager children who climbed into fire appliances, used fire hoses and had-a-go at many activities, including “rescuing kittens from a tree”.
The Deputy Town Mayor, Cllr Jackie Love, was there with other town councillors to join in the celebrations, say thank you for the work the crews have done in the last century and a half – and to join in the fun.
The celebrations took place at Uckfield Fire Station in Bell Farm Lane.
