Uckfield dancers scooped the highest marks awarded in group classes at the Sussex Festival at the Hawth Theatre, Crawley, on Sunday.
The dancers from Deborah Lamb Theatre Arts, aka Debs Dancers, won the Senior Stage Group Dance with their work ‘Own the Throne’ which was choreographed by Amanda Schofield. Click on the picture below to enlarge it.
Their score was 92 marks and that won them the Elizabeth Hodgshon challenge cup for the highest mark in a troupe of any age and the Jean Butterworth Memorial Trophy for attaining the highest overall mark for group entries in all styles and over all ages at the festival.
The dancers who competed were: Amelia Jones, Eleri Jones, Ella Barden, Emily Muxworthy, Erin Daniels, Gabby Conradie, Harriet Gilman, Jennifer Goff, Jessica Packham-Fernee, Laura Manvell, Sally Neve, Sophie Farrell, and Sophie McKay-Smith.
Deborah Lamb said: “This was a brilliant achievement and fabulous testimony to their commitment and dedication to be the best they can be.”
Other groups from Debs Dancers did well too. The Under 15 years stage group came second with their dance Heist and song and dance group Hello received a special mention.
