Uckfield dancer needs financial help to pursue his dream

Young Uckfield dancer Charlie Levett is seeking financial help to enable him to take up a place at the prestigious Elmhurst School for Dance in Birmingham.

Charlie (11), lives in Framfield Road, attends St Philip’s Primary School and has dance lessons with the Rennie Dance Academy which holds classes in Uckfield and Newick and is run by Kirsten Rennie-Carter.

For the past two years Charlie has been a Junior Associate at the Royal Ballet School and during the Winter 2012 season performed with the Royal Ballet Company in The Sleeping Beauty at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.

Charlie has been dancing since the age of four and dreams of becoming a professional dancer. Now he is hoping to take up the place at Elmhurst in September but, even though he has won a scholarship, his family first has to find more than £10,000 a year.

Elmhurst, which is world-renowned for his excellence in training, offers fewer than 20 places a year to gifted young dancers.

The family has contacted local companies and charities to see if they would be able to offer some financial support. If you would like to learn more please contact Mrs Nel Levett on 07796 262831.
