Uckfield customers help jewellers celebrate 200 year anniversary

Uckfield customers helped W E Clark and Son jewellers celebrate 200 years of business on Saturday.

Prosecco and gin and tonic were offered to toast the anniversary, there were branded chocolates to enjoy, and there was a 15% discount on all purchases.

The W E Clark and Son name came to Lewes 100 years ago after Wilfred Ernest Clark took over a jewellers in Cliffe High Street founded by Mr Harris in 1819. Four generations of Clark have now run the business.

The Uckfield shop opened in November 2017 with Charlotte Roake as manager and while she has enjoyed working with her team to build the business she is now moving on.

Charlotte said she was sad this was her last event at the shop. She, and Shirley Wickham, Kylie Manville, and Lauren Saunders had been together since day one and were proud of what had been achieved.

She added: “We have had a really good day and think it helped that the sun came out.”

Charlotte’s last day is Saturday, July 13. A new manager has still to be appointed.
