Uckfield Coronavirus deaths update

Latest figures show how many people have died from Coronavirus in Uckfield up to May 31.

The data splits the town into two areas, with the boundary being roughly the River Uck.

For the town as a whole, 16 people died of Covid-19 up to May 31.

  • In the town centre and Uckfield north, seven people have died.

One was in March, six in April and none in May.

  • In Uckfield south (New Town and Ridgewood) nine people have died. 

One was in March, seven in April and one in May.

In surrounding villages – the areas are Office for National Statistics designations.

  • Buxted, High Hurstwood, Hadlow Down, Framfield, Blackboys and Rotherfield: three deaths – none in March, two in April and one in May.
  • Maresfield, Piltdown, Isfield, Halland, East Hoathly, Laughton, Chiddingly: two deaths, both in March. 

Across the whole of Wealden, Coronavirus deaths continue to decline, according to the latest weekly figures which are up to week-ending June 5.

Two of those were in care homes and the other in hospital.

There have now been 101 Covid-19 deaths in Wealden.

The dataset, compiled from figures released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), clearly shows the virus is retreating in Wealden, as it is in most parts of the country.
