Uckfield children fill Filipino sun with coins

More than £230 was raised when young fund-raisers chalked an image of the Filipino sun from the country’s flag on their playground and filled it with coins.

Year 6 pupils from St Philip’s School wanted to help in the aftermath of the devastating typhoon that hit the Philippines and every child in the school was encouraged to donate their pennies by placing them in the sun.

The money will be sent to the Catholic aid agency CAFOD for distribution to the appropriate areas.
