UCKFIELD CCTV: Talks on installation

Talks about installing Uckfield’s new CCTV system are under way.

Town councillors were given an update in a confidential part of last week’s full council meeting.

The council has agreed to replace the existing system and, in a public document before last week’s meeting it was reported:

‘Discussions continue with BT Redcare, Sussex Police, ESCC [East Sussex County Council] Streetlighting and Uckfield Chamber of Commerce to arrange the logistics of installation.”

In February last year the council agreed to instal the latest CCTV technology in the town and use a system that will have close links with Sussex Police control room.

Members agreed the town should join the Sussex CCTV Partnership, which is led the police.

At the time the council said the benefits of the new system were an ability to upgrade it in line with any partnership development and changes in technology.
