Summer returned for the sun to shine on this afternoon’s (September 1) children’s parade – part of Uckfield Carnival.
The railway station car park was used to assemble the parade before it set off up the High Street to Southview Drive. After that it was to return south to Bell Lane and the Holy Cross School playing field for judging of the fancy dress competitions.
The station car park was used instead of the Victoria Pleasure Ground to marshal the children because it was felt last year that it was difficult to separate children from sportsmen driving to the car park for football.
This year’s parade continued the high standards of recent years and the children were warmly greeted by onlookers who lined the High Street.
Those taking part included children from primary schools – Rocks Park, Holy Cross, Harlands, St Philips, Manor Park – and from Universal Dance, Elite Dance and Drama Academy and Uckfield Performance Ensemble.
