Uckfield Carnival to pay tribute to the fallen of World War 1

The fallen of World War 1 are to be remembered by Uckfield Bonfire and Carnival Society during this year’s torchlight parades.

The society is seeking 132 volunteers to take part in a tribute at about 9pm on Saturday, September 1, outside the Cinque Ports Club.

People with links to those named on memorials in Holy Cross Church, Uckfield, are invited to contact secretary@uckfieldcarnival.co.uk with names, and brief details of any of the fallen you are linked to.

Uckfield Carnival programmes giving details of the firework display on Friday, August 31, and times and routes of processions on the Saturday go on sale this week and are available from Ridgewood Post Office, Allsorts, Gale & Woolgar, Bishops Butchers, and Luxford Restaurant.

Society members will also be selling door to door during evenings between now and carnival day.
