Uckfield-born triathlete to compete in world championships

Uckfield-born triathlete Charlotte Howick is due to compete this weekend in a world triathlon series of events in Auckland, New Zealand.

Charlotte, who is 25 and works as a PE teacher in London, attended St Philip’s Catholic Primary School, then went on to St Paul’s in Haywards Heath before going to Liverpool John Moore University.

She grew up in Tainters Brook, Uckfield, where her parents Rod and Gill Howick still live.

Charlotte started her triathlon training at Uckfield Leisure Centre when she was 15 and was part of a junior team that won the British team triathlon title.

She also worked at the leisure centre as a lifeguard when she was a student.

She often comes home and trains with the Uckfield Dolphin swimming club that her mother Gill and sister Hannah run on a Saturday evening.

The championships in Auckland take place this weekend and will include many of the athletes from the Olympics, including one of the Brownlee brothers, who won the Bronze Medal.
