Uckfield Bonfire children’s procession dazzles

Uckfield Bonfire and Carnival Society’s children’s procession was greeted this afternoon (September 7) by hundreds of people in the High Street.

The colourful and noisy groups, many in fancy dress, made their way from Uckfield railway station car park to the bottom of Southview Drive before going to Holy Cross School field for the children’s fancy dress judging.

The pavements were packed to see the children, many wearing imaginative and dazzling costumes.

Rocks Parks School was highlighting plastic pollution while Harlands School used Toy Story as its theme.

Tonight the Grand Torchlight Procession gets under way from Grange Road at 7.30pm, going down the High Street, into New Town before heading back up the hill to re-form at South View Drive for the Final Procession with Bonfire Prayers at the Church Street junction.
