Two pink-haired women have had their heads shaved, and raised money for charity in the process.
Emma Bransbury, who was featured on Uckfield News last week, has raised £450 for Raystede animal charity at Halland, while Fay Davies has raised more than £700 for Uckfield Foodbank.
Emma, who helps care for people in their own homes, lives with her fiancé Greg, dog Poppy and two snakes, off Framfield Road in Uckfield.
She said it’s taken time to get used to having no hair but now she loves it. Her fund-raising page is still open for donations.
Fay, a face painter, whose business is FAYZPAINTING, also works in a dementia home, lives in Nutley with her partner, Ade Davison.
Fay too, says she’s quite liking her hair as it is now too – low maintenance, and cheap.
Fay said: “I felt I wanted to do something useful and positive in these dark times.
“I originally approached the Coranavirus Outreach Box Service which was fine, then a few days ago they messaged me to say they would probably be winding down soon as people are becoming more organised.
“So I thought I would ask Uckfield Foodbank if they needed any financial help and yes they certainly do as they have seen a vast increase in the need for their services since the lockdown.
“I was more than happy to donate any monies I raised to this worthwhile cause.”
Fay’s partner Ade did the hair cutting and videoed it live so people could see what Fay was doing and encourage others to donate.
Fay said she felt “super nervous”, but remembering what others were going through made it worthwhile, and now she is overwhelmed with the response to her fund-raiser.
