Two hurt in safety incidents near Luxford Field, Uckfield

Two injuries to members of the public, including a broken arm,  were reported during the annual visit to Uckfield of the funfair.

Members of Uckfield Town Council were told of the incidents – not involving the rides or attractions – on Monday (September 23).

The council owns the Luxford Field where the fair is held every year to coincide with the Bonfire and Carnival celebrations.

Members of the council’s general purposes committee were informed:

  • A member of the public tripped on hose piping feeding the fair, resulting in cuts and bruises; and in a separate incident
  • A member of the public fell from path on to grass on the Luxford Field while trying to move around a vehicle gate which was open for the fair, resulting in a broken arm.

The council’s estates and facilities manager, Mark Francis, investigated both incidents and is examining ways to ensure there is no repetition in future years.
