The art psychotherapy group begins on Thursday, August 22, and runs for an hour from 7-8.30pm.
It takes place at The Path, New Olives, High Street, Uckfield, TN22 1QE.
Paula Rhymes from The Path said: “The group is set up to work with those who would benefit from the transformative process of group therapy.
“It is open to adults 18 and over who are not currently receiving counselling or therapy but who are suffering from life, or mental health, issues and need the support of working with a qualified therapist.
“Art-making forms a crucial part of the group work, but there is no need to be ‘good at art’ as there is no focus on an end product.
“The group is small and sessions take place in a light and dedicated studio each week.”
Paula said a free initial meeting is available for those who are thinking of joining and where suitability and any concerns can be discussed.
This is for people who want to make art but hold themselves back, and who wonder what they could do if they knew they couldn’t fail.
Paula said: “Want to explore and just enjoy making art? Think you would enjoy group support and the freedom to make without judgement?
“Explorers art group could be for you. There are six weeks of themed art making with the freedom and reflection to experiment and explore making art with other like-minded people.
“The group is open to all those who wish to make and create, regardless of artistic experience. Al you need is your open mind and curiosity.”
Drinks and cake
Paula added that drinks and cake are provided. She stressed this is not a therapy group, but a creative art group.
There’s a free taster session on Monday, July 29, for a shorter time of one and a half hours from 11am to 12.30pm.
