Trees behind High Street shops could be felled

Trees behind shops in Uckfield High Street could be felled “so that the land can be developed in the future”.

The trees, behind numbers 21-45 High Street, are in a designated Uckfield conservation area, which is accessed via Bell Farm Lane, according to an application for tree works.

The trees are in groups and all are Sycamores except for two cherry trees.

More of the trees which could be felled.

The application which will be considered by Wealden Council comes from LCP Management in London and a form says: “The reason for applying to remove these trees is so that the land can be developed in the future.”

There was no information about how the cleared land might be developed.

In the High Street number 21 is next door to Hardware Goods at 21C and number 45 is Baldwins Travel Agency.
