Traffic cameras watch Uckfield High Street

Temporary cameras to monitor traffic in Uckfield High Street have been installed.

They come as plans for the second stage of roadworks in the town are being reviewed by the county council and its partners in the town centre reinvestment project.

Officers have been instructed to review the options for additional loading/unloading bays and disabled bays including time-limited parking, phasing of the work and to bring forward a number of options for traffic management during this work.

In a statement the project said night-time working may form part of one of these options. “Of course, construction work undertaken during unsocial hours has both advantages and disadvantages,” it said.
